About the Santa Ana Family Justice Center

Our Santa Ana Family Justice Center (SA FJC) was the first in the Nation, co-located within a main police administration building; bucking the victim services trauma informed notion that victims would be hesitant to seek services at the police station. Nearly three years after opening it’s door, the SA FJC serves as a national best practice model of community trust building and victim centered services - providing critical services thru an unprecedented global pandemic and national civil unrest.

In June 2019, the City Council appropriated funding through the FY 2019-20 budget process to establish the SAFJC. SAFJC was established in January 2020 as the first of its kind in the Country, co-located within the Police Department administration building. The SAFJC is a partnership between the Santa Ana Police Department and 17 social services organizations to provide a “one stop shop” where survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking and elder abuse can receive the assistance and support they need.  The U.S. Department of Justice has recognized the Family Justice Center as a best practice model. The SAFJC has also joined 90 other Family Justice Centers nationwide in their affiliation with Alliance for HOPE International to ensure it is following industry standard best practices. Through the unprecedented pandemic, the SAFJC has proven a critical and successful resource for the Santa Ana community.
