City of Santa Ana officials joined HomeAid Orange County for the opening of the FX Residences permanent supportive housing project on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The dedication brought together City and County leaders, housing agencies, and the business community to recognize the collaboration that will provide housing for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, with priority given to people with ties to Santa Ana.

“The City of Santa Ana is proud to support the construction of FX Residences as we continue to lead Orange County in creating new housing for people of all income levels,” Mayor Valerie Amezcua said. “This project was built on City land under a 99-year ground lease, and the City provided $1.6 million and three project-based vouchers to help fund its construction.”

Built by HomeAid building partner City Ventures, the 17-unit project at 801 E. Santa Ana Blvd. offers extensive supportive services for residents including mental health, case management, substance use counseling, housing retention, and connections to resources in the community. Units are available for individuals earning less than 30% of the area median income, with eight of the units specially set aside for those earning less than 25% of the area median income.

Councilmember David Penaloza spoke at the opening and presented certificates of recognition to HomeAid Orange County and Mercy House Living Centers, which will operate programs at FX Residences.

HomeAid’s building partners, City Ventures and Bassenian Lagoni Architects, along with funders that include the City of Santa Ana, Orange County Housing Finance Trust, HCD, CalHFA, and Banc of California, among others, made this project possible.
