Background and experience

Kyle Nellesen is an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Santa Ana. Mr. Nellesen represents the City in a number of areas, such as civil litigation, Pitchess discovery motions, code enforcement nuisance abatement actions, and as prosecutor for Santa Ana Municipal Code violations.

He also provides legal assistance to several City departments, including Code Enforcement, Police Department, and Planning and Building. Additionally, Mr. Nellesen has authored a number of successful motions on behalf of the City in police liability cases.

Mr. Nellesen joined the City Attorney’s Office as a clerk in February 2013 while in law school. After graduating and passing the bar exam, he was hired as a Deputy City Attorney in June 2014.

Mr. Nellesen is admitted to practice law in California and is a member of the Orange County Bar Association.

Education

Mr. Nellesen received his Bachelor of Arts in American History, cum laude, from Chapman University in 2009, and his J.D. from Chapman University Fowler School of Law in 2014.
