Department of Rehabilitation
The Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) administers the largest Vocational Rehabilitation Program in the country. With more than 85 locations throughout California, the DOR provides services to increase the quality and quantity of employment outcomes for people with a full range of physical and psychiatric disabilities. Services are tailored to each person individually to ensure a greater chance for success. A vocational rehabilitation team works closely with each job seeker to establish the best combination of services and resources necessary to prepare for, find, and retain employment. Not all available services are needed by all consumers. DOR’s services include, but are not limited to:
- Counseling and guidance
- Referrals and assistance to get services from other agencies
- Job search and placement assistance
- Vocational and other training services
- Evaluation of physical and mental impairments
- On-the-job or personal assistance services
- Interpreter services
- Rehabilitation and orientation/mobility services for individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing and/or blind/low vision
- Occupational licenses, tools, equipment, initial stocks, and supplies
- Technical assistance for self-employment
- Rehabilitation assistive technology services and devices
- Supported employment services
