The Orange County Public Works and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are hosting an  In-Person Public Meeting for the Santiago Creek Flood Risk Management Project on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at OC Public Works County Conference Center located at 601 N. Ross Street, Santa Ana, CA 92701.  The project improvements are designed to enhance the flood protection along the Santiago Creek in Santa Ana between the Interstate 5 Freeway and the Santa Ana River, and upstream at the Santiago Recharge Basins.

This meeting follows public meetings on January 26, 2023 and May 3, 2023, and is an opportunity for you to submit verbal and/or written comments on the adequacy of the draft environmental documents for this project.  Please refer to Orange County Public Works website for additional information on the public meeting: www.bit.ly/OCPWSantiagoCreek.  The project is in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a component of the Santa Ana River Mainstem Project.

The Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment and Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (SEA/IS/MND) will be discussed, which assesses environmental impacts related to project implementation and future maintenance. The Draft SEA/IS/MND may be obtained at the following location: www.lrc.usace.army.mil/Missions/Civil-Works-Projects/Santiago-Creek

Background:
The Santiago Creek Channel Improvements are part of the Santa Ana River Mainstem (SARM) Project that was authorized by Congress in 1980. The Lower Basin project, which include Santiago Creek improvements, is the last segment that will help complete this decades-long major flood control project.
