Commander Sorenson is a 28-year law enforcement veteran, having served the last 25 years with the Santa Ana Police Department.  He previously held various leadership positions in Patrol and as the Gang Suppression Unit Sergeant.  As a Commander, he has served as a Watch Commander, Training/Human Resources Commander, and Metropolitan Division Commander. He is currently the Operations Support Division Commander overseeing the Canine Unit, Homeland Security/UASI, Honor Guard, Mounted Unit, Air Support, and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, a Master’s degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Tactical Officers.

Commander Julian Rodriguez is a 28-year law enforcement veteran, having served the last 22-years with the Santa Ana Police Department. He previously held various leadership positions in Patrol and Crimes Against Persons Divisions.  Commander Rodriguez currently serves as the South Area District Commander overseeing a Directed Patrol Team, the Quality of Life Team,Community Engagement Team, and the Chaplain Program.  Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Studies, a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.  He previously served as the President of the Orange County Gang Investigators Association.

Commander Joseph Marty is a 26-year law enforcement veteran, having served the last 19 years with the Santa Ana Police Department. He previously held various leadership positions in Patrol Operations, Training, Internal Affairs, and Traffic Divisions, and Community Engagement. Commander Marty currently serves as the Traffic Division Commander. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Studies and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

Commander Joe Weber is a 25-year law enforcement veteran with the Santa Ana Police Department. He has worked assignments across all bureaus of the police department in line-level, supervisory, and management positions. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Teaching and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Commander Rosa Ponce de Leon is a 25-year law enforcement veteran, having served the last 21 years with the Santa Ana Police Department. She previously held various leadership roles in Field Operations, Homeland Security, and Internal Affairs Divisions.  Commander Ponce de Leon currently serves as a Watch Commander over Patrol Operations with ancillary oversight of the Department’s Peer Support and Wellness Program.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Commander Frank Gutierrez is a 15-year law enforcement veteran with the Santa Ana Police Department. He has held leadership positions in Field Operations, K-9 Unit, and the Internal Affairs Division. Commander Gutierrez currently serves as a Watch Commander in the Patrol Division. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Management and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership.

Lopez currently serves as a Watch Commander overseeing Patrol Operations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership.
