The City of Santa Ana Public Works Agency has begun the Fremont Elementary and Spurgeon Intermediate Safe Routes to School Project, which will improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.
As part of this project, construction crews are working 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Feb. 28, 2025, for striping, paving and utility construction on Civic Center Drive between Fairview and Bristol streets. Civic Center Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction during construction.
The Fremont Elementary and Spurgeon Intermediate Safe Routes to School Project will construct curb extensions at crosswalks and intersections, curbs and gutters, speed humps, a bikeway, street lights, traffic signals, utility improvements and more.
