Get a library card
A library card is free for all residents of California, regardless of immigration status.
With a library card you can:
- Borrow books, DVDs, and hotspots
- Use library computers with internet and Microsoft Office applications
- Access e-books, databases, and e-magazines from home, office, or school
- Get research assistance from professional library staff
Common card services
Get a library card
- Visit a library branch or print out the application (English, Español, Tiếng Việt).
- Bring photo ID and proof of address
- Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Examples of acceptable photo ID
- Driver’s license
- Passport
- Student ID
- Consulate identification
Examples of proof of address
- Postmarked envelope with your name and address
- Current utility bill
- Rent receipt or property tax bill
- Car insurance or vehicle registration
- Phone bill
Student success library card
All Santa Ana Unified School District’s students can use their Student ID number as a Student Success Library Card.
Students get instant access to digital resources like:
- eBooks
- Streaming movies
- Educational databases
- and more!
Students can check out five items, including:
- Chromebooks
- Wi-Fi hotspots
- Items from the Library of Things
The card won’t expire until students graduate from high school or transfer out of the Santa Ana Unified School District.

Fines
The Santa Ana Public Library does not charge any overdue fines or rental fees. Library patrons will still be responsible for lost or damaged items.
