The first CULTURA: A Community Connection Guide of 2024 is out now and welcomes the new year with a statewide award of excellence for marketing and communications. The latest issue covers programming provided by Recreation, the Library, and the Zoo from February 2024 through May 2024.
The City of Santa Ana first introduced the CULTURA in Fall 2022. The magazine was created as a relaunch to the previously styled brochure, with its publication halted due to the 2020 COVID pandemic. The past brochure primarily focused on marketing recreation programming, but mass creative and rebranding efforts were made to help develop a new magazine that captures the full essence and culture of Santa Ana. The creation of the CULTURA was the perfect collaborative effort between Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency (PRSCA) and the Santa Ana Public Library to showcase city-wide community services.
From articles, events, and programming to curated community photos, the CULTURA is a true representation of the spirit of Santa Ana. Every publication shares something special about community services. One of the most distinctive components of the magazine includes exclusively using images captured at city programming. Not using stock images makes the publication unique and personal to the Santa Ana community.
Offered as a free resource to all residents and neighbors, copies of the CULTURA are available online, in-person at city facilities, or by mail for those who subscribe. The CULTURA is publicized three times a year and ensures each section’s monthly programming and events are highlighted:
- Winter/Spring: February-May
- Summer: June-September
- Fall: September-January
Since its inception, each CULTURA issue has continuously grown in popularity and has become a highly anticipated magazine where the community looks forward to seeing themselves represented through each edition. With all of the CULTURA’s success, the magazine was recently recognized with a 2023 Marketing and Communications Award of Excellence by the California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS). CPRS is a nonprofit, professional, public interest organization that represents over 86% of park and recreation agencies all across California, making the state Award of Excellence a highly competitive recognition. The Santa Ana PRCSA will be presented with the award at the annual CPRS Conference held late February 2024 in Palm Springs.
As an award-winning magazine, hurry to grab your copy of the winter/spring 2024 issue of the CULTURA at a city facility near you!
