Training Division

The Training Division provides high quality, professional training in an effort to save lives, prevent injury and improve the operational effectiveness of the Department. Effective delivery of training is the cornerstone of our mission to ensure our officers have the highest level of training to support the community we serve. The Department’s Mission, Vision, and Values and the City’s Strategic Plan are used as guiding principles when setting priorities.

The Training Division consists of:

• Firearms and Tactics
• Advance Officer Training
• Centennial Park Training Facility

Within the units, the Training Division has the following sections/activities under its command:

• Driver Training
• Defensive Tactics Training
• Force Options Training
• De-escalation Training

The training staff is committed to providing students with exceptional instruction that emphasizes the most current community policing and problem solving concepts. Our courses will challenge students to expand their knowledge and provide them the requisite skills needed to excel in today’s law enforcement environment.
