Santa Ana Stadium is a 7-acre special use facility located near the intersection of W. Civic Center Drive and Flower Street. The stadium offers a multipurpose turf field, bleacher seats, sports stadium lighting, two marquees, a full sound system, locker rooms, and concessions stand. This City-owned venue seats 9,000 spectators and remains a key destination for football, soccer, and community events.

History

Built in 1963, Santa Ana Stadium, also known as Eddie West Field or the Santa Ana Bowl, has become a historic venue for both sports and entertainment. Named after Eddie West, a longtime Orange County Register writer and passionate supporter of Santa Ana College athletics and local sports, the stadium has played a central role in the community for decades. Over the years, Santa Ana Stadium has hosted a variety of high-profile events, including international soccer games, professional boxing matches, and music festivals. The stadium also serves as a home for college and high school football games, and it has been a prominent location for several community events. Its central location in downtown Santa Ana ensures easy access for guests, solidifying its place as a cherished landmark in Orange County.

Stadium name

In November 1977, this field was renamed "Eddie West Field - Santa Ana Stadium."

By proclamation of the Santa Ana City Council, this facility honors Eddie West, a devoted advocate for local athletes. As the first sports editor of The Orange County Register in 1924, he wrote the beloved "West Winds" column, chronicling local sports folklore. A Santa Ana native and Stanford graduate, West spent 54 years shaping California sports journalism. His dedication, humility, and influence greatly contributed to Orange County’s prominence as a major sports hub.
