Cesar Chavez Day closure March 31
Santa Ana City Hall and non-essential services will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025, in observance of Cesar Chavez Day.
There will be no street sweeping on March 31, but trash and recycling will be collected.

Hiring Guidelines

Automatic and Discretionary Disqualifiers

  • No felon convictions.
  • Three (3) sustained moving violations over the past three years from the time of application dependent on severity.
  • Two (2) at fault collisions over the past three years from the time of application dependent on severity.
  • Any DUI conviction or any DUI plea agreement to a lesser charge within three years from the time of application
  • No use or possession of any non-prescription opiate (includes Heroin), Cocaine, Amphetamine (includes Methamphetamine) or Ecstasy within the last five years from the time of application.
  • No use or possession of any hallucinogen (includes LSD, PCP, Ketamine) within the last 10 years from the time of application.
  • No use or possession of non-prescription steroids within five years from the time of application.
  • No conviction of any crime that prohibits possession or use of a firearm

Tattoo Policy

Tattoos shall not be visible while employees are on-duty.

  • (a) Employees with existing tattoos hired before the implementation of this policy (2/1/05)
  • are exempt.
  • (b) Employees meeting the above exception shall not display any new or modified tattoos obtained after 2/1/05 while on-duty.
  • (c) This policy shall not apply to employees assigned to undercover assignments with prior approval of the employee’s immediate supervisor.
