Congratulations to Tea Meskal, the first winner of this year’s Youth Water Poster Contest Teacher Drawing! Tea teaches Energy & the Environment, a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) course at Vista Heritage Global Academy, where she helps students explore sustainability and real-world environmental challenges.
Participating in the contest for the first time, Tea saw it as an exciting way to make water conservation both creative and meaningful. “I wanted my 7th-grade students to learn about water conservation in a fun and creative way. When I heard about this contest, I thought it would be a great way for them to apply what they’ve learned and contribute to a larger conversation about water conservation in Santa Ana,” she shared.
At Vista Heritage Global Academy, students are encouraged to “Think Global and Act Local,” investigating world issues, recognizing different perspectives, and taking action to make a difference. Tea hopes this year’s contest theme, “Everyone Has A Role,” will inspire her students to develop a deeper understanding of their responsibility in protecting water resources—both in their community and beyond.
Each year, the City of Santa Ana’s Water Resources Division hosts the Youth Water Poster Contest, offering students a creative way to explore the importance of water conservation. And teachers who participate have the chance to win exciting prizes—just like Tea!
Newly extended submission deadline: April 3, 2025 at 4:00 PM
