The General Plan adopted on April 19, 2022, includes significant changes to the City's Land Use Map. These changes will accommodate future growth along five major transit corridors called Focus Areas. A Public Realm Plan will be developed for each of the Focus Areas with the goal of enhancing the pedestrian and cyclist experience, providing amenities, increasing safety, creating a sense of place, and improving the overall aesthetics of these five major corridors in the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div> The public realm consists of all of the public spaces and places where we have shared encounters each day. Sidewalks, streets, parks, and plazas are the areas where we can come together, socialize, intermingle and experience the city. The physical surroundings that define our public realm contribute to creating a sense of place and a quality of life that is unique to Santa Ana.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div> The Focus Areas are geographically distributed throughout the city, and each allows Santa Ana to meet its diverse needs in different ways. Follow the links below to see the purpose and intent, specific objectives, and custom land uses for each focus area that were defined to facilitate new types of urban development, reimagine these areas, realize the community\u2019s vision, and further embody Santa Ana\u2019s core values.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Because of the interrelation between updating the zoning for many of the properties within the Focus Areas and the creation of Public Realm Plans, community outreach for this effort is being conducted in concert with the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Zoning Code Update<\/span>.
